Officially Licensed USMC MWSS-271 Workhorse Legacy Patch — Marine Wing Support Squadron 271 Embroidered Patch

Workhorse of the Wing — keeping the air wing in the fight.

Marine Wing Support Squadron 271 (MWSS-271) “Workhorse” is a United States Marine Corps support squadron assigned to Marine Wing Support Group 27 (MWSG-27) under 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing at MCAS Cherry Point, North Carolina. This legacy patch celebrates the Workhorse heritage of MWSS-271, honoring the squadron’s long tradition of providing the essential engineering and logistical support that keeps Marine aviation operational.

MWSS-271’s mission is to provide all of the ground-based support that Marine aircraft squadrons need to operate from expeditionary airfields and forward arming and refueling points. This includes airfield construction and repair, aviation fuel and ordnance handling, crash fire rescue, weather services, explosive ordnance disposal, and base defense. The “Workhorse” nickname perfectly captures the squadron’s identity — MWSS-271 Marines do the heavy lifting, the unglamorous but absolutely essential work that makes Marine aviation possible. Without the Workhorses building and maintaining airfields, fueling aircraft, and providing force protection, the aircraft squadrons they support could not execute a single mission.

This legacy patch honors the generations of Workhorses who made the mission possible.

Perfect For: MWSS-271 Workhorse veterans, Marine wing support personnel, 2nd MAW Cherry Point community, and Marine aviation ground support collectors.
