HSM-74 Swamp Foxes — Embroidered Patch
Swamp Foxes — Combat Tested Over the Red Sea
The Swamp Foxes of HSM-74 have gone from anti-submarine patrols to direct combat over the Red Sea. This officially licensed patch represents one of the Navy’s most combat-experienced helicopter maritime strike squadrons — a unit that has written new chapters in naval aviation history with every deployment.
HSM-74 was established on 21 August 1986 as HSL-44 before being redesignated HSM-74 in June 2011 upon transitioning to the MH-60R Seahawk. Based at NAS Jacksonville and attached to Carrier Air Wing Three, the Swamp Foxes deploy aboard the USS Eisenhower carrier strike group with combat elements spread across cruisers and destroyers. During their 2023-2024 deployment, HSM-74 conducted defensive and offensive combat operations against Houthi forces in the Southern Red Sea, employing the first-ever Hellfire missiles from MH-60Rs to defend coalition assets and merchant shipping. The Swamp Foxes engaged and sank hostile small boats during a December 31 attack, and rescued 26 civilian mariners from a vessel struck by a Houthi unmanned surface vehicle.
Perfect For:
HSM-74 Swamp Foxes veterans and active duty sailors, MH-60R Seahawk aircrew, CVW-3 personnel, USS Eisenhower strike group members, and Navy helicopter aviation collectors.
