Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 25 (HSC-25), the “Island Knights,” is the U.S. Navy’s only forward-deployed expeditionary helicopter squadron, permanently based at Andersen Air Force Base, Guam. HSC-25 operates the MH-60S Knighthawk and provides combat support, search and rescue, vertical replenishment, personnel transfer, and medical evacuation across the Western Pacific. The squadron’s SAR mission is one of its most critical — maintaining 24/7 alert status to rescue downed aviators, sailors in distress, and civilians in the vast expanses of the Pacific Ocean. Operating from Guam places the Island Knights at the geographic center of the Navy’s Indo-Pacific operations, making HSC-25 one of the most strategically positioned helicopter squadrons in the fleet.
